What Is AntiEtch®?

AntiEtch® is a durable, imperceptible treatment that prevents acid etching and staining on marble, limestone, and other calcium-based stones.

It looks and feels like real stone because it is real stone, just protected. No plastic. No glare. No peeling. And it’s backed by a 10-year warranty.

Why Most Contractors Miss The Opportunity

Many think this is a wipe-on product. It’s not. AntiEtch® requires real training, professional equipment, and a commitment to quality work. But for those who invest, the payoff is huge: less competition, more profitability, and loyal, premium clients.

Step 1 - Remove any existing damage

The initial phase of the anti-etch process entails the meticulous removal of any pre-existing damage or imperfections from the surface. This crucial step ensures that the material is a clean canvas, free from blemishes, and optimally prepared to undergo the subsequent treatment. By eliminating all traces of previous etching or damage, the surface becomes receptive to the anti-etch treatment, allowing it to work effectively in preventing further deterioration and maintaining the integrity of the material. This meticulous preparation sets the stage for a successful anti-etching process, ensuring long-lasting protection and preservation of the surface.

Step 2 - Roll on the anti etch Treatment

The next step of the anti-etch process, is to roll on the specially formulated treatment onto the surface, ensuring even and thorough coverage. Once applied, we allow the treatment to sit undisturbed for a precise duration of 45 minutes. During this time, the treatment works its magic, gradually flattening out any imperfections or irregularities on the surface. This waiting period is crucial, as it allows the treatment to bond with the material and achieve optimal results. After the 45-minute interval, the surface emerges perfectly flattened and ready to be UV Cured.

Step 3 - UV Cure the Treatment

The strength and long-lasting protection of this anti-etch treatment are attributed to its innovative UV-curing technology. After the treatment is evenly applied to the surface and allowed to sit for 45 minutes, it undergoes a UV-curing process. This involves exposing the treated surface to ultraviolet (UV) light, which initiates a chemical reaction within the treatment itself. As a result of this process, the treatment forms a robust and highly durable protective layer on the surface.

Step 4 - Polish to Matt, Honed or High Shine Finish

Following the UV curing process, we have the capability to customize the appearance of the treated surface to meet the specific preferences of our customers. Our skilled technicians can expertly polish the treatment and the stone to achieve the desired level of shine. Whether you prefer a matte finish for a more natural and understated look, a silky honed finish that strikes the perfect balance between sheen and texture, or a high-gloss glass-like finish that exudes elegance, we can accommodate your choice. Our range of polishing options allows for a spectrum of finishes in between these extremes as well.

What Causes Marble Etching?

Everyday items that you use in your kitchen such as lemons, vinegar, coffee, wine, and soda or in your bathroom, like toothpaste, certain cleaners, and lotions can quickly cause an etch mark.

While it’s certainly possible to repair etches, the process can be labour intensive and expensive. Most importantly, the repair does not protect against future etching.
